Nepal higher medical system has changed rapidly in past fifteen years and achieved immense growth in medical education within the country. Most of private medical institutes are operated by the Nepalese or foreign groups (mainly India). Nepal offers higher education to both national and internationals citizens at affordable cost. It has converted into educational destination for many students from different countries. Programs and courses offered at Nepal universities are approved and recognized by the Medical Council of India, WHO, UNESCO and other organization.
Medical education is now in trend and considered as the most popular field for professional career. Nepal and foreign running school in Nepal provides 30% to the total seats for medicine studies through entrance examination conducted by the Ministry of Education, Nepal. Medical institutes impart education across various categories of students like scholarship students, self-finance students, and Nepalese self financing students. There institute offer medical education at bachelor, master and doctor (PHD) level.
If any national candidate who is interested to pursue bachelor courses from Nepal universities then he/she have to take entrance examination and international candidate will be allowed after an interview. To undertake a bachelor course for MBBS degree, student must have completed their higher secondary education or equivalent examination from a recognized board with minimum required marks and subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Nepal provides MBBS degree which is valid in India after passing FMGE conducted by MCI.
During medical under graduate course a foundation of basic knowledge of health science and medicine are laid down in academic session so that students will be able to understand the human body, symptoms of diseases and how to cope with them. After taking degree Indian students have to clear MCI screening test for practicing in India. MCI screening is a test for checking the ability of candidate.
Masters is also known as post graduation course for high level qualification. To be eligible for master courses he/she must have hold their bachelors degree from a recognized university with minimum marks required for admission in Nepal universities. Masters degree is awarded to the qualified Physicians after completing the examinations successfully.
PHD in medicine is supposed to be offered for 2-3 years it is a full time program offered by Nepal universities. During their training they perform various research programs and activities for complete knowledge. After completed their PHD a person is fully expertise in their selected field and able to function as a professional.
